Most 347 crate engines are offered in various stages, from “long blocks” (requiring your own intake and carb) to “turn-key” packages.
- BluePrint Engines 347 Stroker (415 HP): A widely available option featuring aluminum heads, a hydraulic roller cam, and forged pistons. It produces 415 HP and 415 ft-lbs of torque.
- Ford Performance 347 Sealed Racing Engine: Designed for circle track or competition use. Built with a BOSS 302 block, it includes a forged rotating assembly and is rated at 415 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque.
- Prestige Motorsports 347 Series: Offers tiered performance packages including 425 HP (daily driver friendly), 440 HP (aggressive street), and 500 HP (performance enthusiast) versions.
- Roush Performance 347 SR/IR: High-end builds producing 450–465 HP. Options include CNC-ported heads and fuel injection systems like an 8-stack intake.
- ATK High Performance HP100C: A Stage 3 complete engine producing 450 HP. It often comes with a carburetor, distributor, and water pump included.
- Bore x Stroke: Typically 4.030″ bore with a 3.400″ stroke.
- Compression Ratio: Usually around 10:1, designed for 91+ octane pump gas.
- Rotating Assembly: Often upgraded with forged pistons and steel crankshafts to handle the increased power.
- Balance: Most 347 engines require a 28 oz. external imbalance flywheel and damper, though some high-end racing versions are internally balanced.
